BRONZE STATUE OF THE LION AND SERPENT

Large, magnificent bronze Lion with Snake, signed figurine, securely mounted on a veined black marble base.

This extremely high quality bronze, produced by the hot cast, lost wax technique is securely mounted on a solid marble base.

Dimensional Data
The statue, overall, is 250 mm (9 3/4") high, around 290 mm (11 3/8") long,  x 190 mm (7 1/2") deep and weighs 8,2 kgs (18 lbs)
The oval black marble base is 290 mm (11 3/8") long  x 190 mm (7 1/2") deep, at its maxims, x 30 mm (1 3/16") thick

Barye is famous for his creations depicting the dramatic savagery of nature, generating dynamic tension in most of his highly detailed sculptures
A moving & powerful example of an Adult Lion fighting a snake, dynamically poised. 
This statue bears the name "A. Barye" & carries a foundry coin.
