BRONZE STATUE "MERCURY" or "HERMES" FIGURINE ON MARBLE BASE

A Signed, Pure Bronze Statue of Mercury, or Hermes, securely mounted on a turned, black marble base, complete with foundry coin.

General
This statue derives from Greek mythology Hermes or Mercury he was the son of Zeus & Maia.
The young messenger god, of reason & truth is depicted, with arm aloft, lifted by the wind from Zephyr.
This is a reproduction of the original sculpture c1580 by the famous Italian Renaissance sculptor, Giambologna (1529 - 1608 ) or Jean Boulogne.
There is an example of this wonderful statue at Chatsworth House Derbyshire and the Willing House London Kings Cross. The flag and cap badge of the Royal Corpse of signals both feature Mercury on them. who is also known as "Jimmy" The origin of this nick name is unclear but probably derives from the famous Royal Signals boxer Jimmy Emblen, who was British army champion in 1924.
They are also presented as winner trophies at the Isle of man TT Races.
This bronze is signed "Giambologna" & contains the foundry coin 
A stunning bronze piece, with incredible detail, adding distinction as either a centrepiece, or main attraction to any dwelling.

The statue, overall, is 430 mm (17") high, & weighs 2,5 kgs (5 1/2 lbs)
The turned black marble base is 125 mm (4 7/8") diameter, at its maximum x 78 mm (3") high.
